High Non Paged Pool memory Windows 8.

Hi guys, I've been running Windows 8.1 for about 2 months now and every time I want to play BF4 or anything I would constantly have to reset my PC. The non-paged pool memory in the task manager is 5.9GB and it would slow all other programs to a crawl. I know this is a isolated Windows 8 problem, because I never had this issue on Windows 7. Is there anyway to limit the amount of nonpooled memory?

System Specs:
i5 4670K
8GB DDR 1333mhz
GTX 780.

No there is no way and what you have is a Noon pushed pool memory leak. You will need to find out which program is causing the leak and terminate it.

Non paged pool memory is memory allocated by a device driver.
Excessive pool use as in this case would indicated a error in a driver.
I would suggest updating drivers starting with the Ethernet driver.
If you have two Ethernet cards, with one not being used you might consider disabling the second one.

non paged pool is tagged with a marker so you can determine what driver allocated it. Poolmon.exe can be used to show the information about the allocations and the tags that are being allocated.
(you find the tag, then look up the tag to determine what process allocated the memory)

I used to have extremely high non-paged-pool (> 8 GB) and finally found accidentally how to fix it. I plugged in my Windows Phone (Nokia 920) in my USB to load the battery. When I stopped doing that I never have seen high memory usage anymore.

I hope this works for other people as well.
