Hey guys,

Just got another Kingston hyperx 120gb ssd today. I had gotten one a while ago and long story short, I added this new one to my system and set them up in RAID 0. I re-installed windows and everything seems to be running fine... thus far. I installed the Intel Rapid Storage utility and was just poking around in there and came I came across something that is somewhat startling. Basically, it is saying that 1 of my ssd is running at 6Gb/s and 1 of them is running at 3Gb/s.

My questions is, have any of you guys run into this problem or know why the software is reading it as such. The bios is detecting that it is plug into the sata 6GB/s ports and the performance is good. It is just kinda weird if you know what I mean? I'm thinking maybe the cable I'm using is defective or the software is reading it wrong. One more thing, the software is showing that disk data cache is "enable" on the SSDs. Do I want this to be 'enabled' or "disabled". I'm having the utility run check on the drives right now to see if is stay the same. Otherwise any input would be GREAT!

THANK YOU!

The cable shouldn't cause it to drop to SATA II specifications. Which port are they plugged into on the board? The Z77 boards only had 2 SATA 6Gbps from Intel and normally 2 more from ASMedia on Asus while the other four are SATA 3Gbps.

You want to make sure they are plugged into the same ports else it will drop the speeds down.

The other thing it could be is the drive. Are they both the same model?

Hey are both plugged into the brown ports which is stated by ASUS to be the SATA 6GB/s ports. Also, they are both the exact same drive. One is a little old than the other but both the exact same model.

I know firmware can cause some funky things but when I bought the first drive is was rated for 6Gb/s. I'll flash by bios to see if maybe that fixes anything. I have not updated it since I got the mobo and looks like there has been quiet a few that has been released. I'll let you know.

Problem ended up being the cable. Swapped out the cable and BADA BING BADA BOOM! SATA 6GB/s BABY!

Thank you to all the people that helped me in figuring this problem out.
