Hello, i have recently received a Dell inspiron 580 from my father. I want to add a graphics card, because i am unable to play high end games such as call of duty and battlefield. I received a Ge Force GTX 9800, and i'm worried that my power supply would not be able to handle it. (i have 300 watts, and the recommended minimum is 450 watts). What power supply should i go for? Should i get a 450 watt, or play it safe and get a 500-600 watt or above? (P.S. I have no set budget.)

Solution
Don't push Dell PSU too hard or you will push your PC to garbage, literally. 450 watt PSU is enough, something like Corsair CX or Antec, look for cheaper one.

The 9800gtx has a max draw of around 160 watts. Depending on what cpu you have it might work but your cutting it pretty close. figure the average core 2 duo pulls 65 watts plus 50 for the board and stuff and you can get real close to that 300 watt limit real fast.
