How outdated is this build? (Gaming PC)

So here's the deal. A little over a year ago, (around December 2012) I came on to this forum in hopes of finding the right build for me. Thanks to you folks, I finally had a build that I felt happy and that was within my budget. That was until I ran short of money only a few weeks before I was planning on purchasing the build. Only now, over a year later, I've found myself with enough money to buy a brand spanking new gaming pc so I no longer have to deal with this shitty 5 year old Dell Inspiron.

So basically, I have a build that is a little over a year old and I would like to (if possible) determine just how good of a build it is, and on top of that, update any parts that are out of date and still remain with my budget. I would do this myself, but I honestly don't think I'd do a very job, and I don't want to find out that I spent $1000 dollars on shitty parts that aren't compatible. I trust you guys and hope you'll be able to help me out.

So here (my build): http://pcpartpicker.com/user/bobio13/saved/Q7z

Here's all the details and so on:
-I'd like to keep the price below $1000 (CDN)
-My location is Quebec,Canada
-If a part should be updated, I ask one thing: to simply change the part to a newer version, rather than changing the manufacturer and so on (e.g. the graphics card is Radeon, so I'd prefer to keep it Radeon, rather than switching to NVIDIA)
-I plan on getting Windows 8 rather than Windows 7, so I'd like a Touch Screen Monitor.
-There is no need to add a keyboard or mouse to the build (unless you have recommendations)
-If possible, I'd like some recommendations for good quality speakers (separate budget of $200 give or take)
-I'd like 16gb of RAM if it's possible to do so without going over the budget.

I think that's all. If there's any comments you have, please feel free to say them. I would like to know what you have to say. If there's more details you'd like to know, just let me know. I'll be more than glad to answer. Finally, if you do help, I sincerely thank you, because I really don't think I'd be able to do this on my own.

That is a good thing, because I noticed a recent significant price drop which made me very happy. At one point it went from just under $1000 to over $1300 and hovered around there for quite a while, but in the past month, it dropped to $750, which means I can get it in just a few short weeks.

EDIT: I am unsure of the compatibility of that specific CPU. When I went to add it to the build, it didn't show up on the list of available CPUs. It appears that the best i5 that is compatible is the i5-3570k.

Thanks a lot for your input, I appreciate it a lot.

Uhm I don't think you noticed but the GPU and PSU you picked are no longer available (no pricing). So you might want to redo that setup considering those don't seem to be listed. Personally I use this as a 'map' to a new pickout, so you can play with the numbers and be at these 'minimums'. For example right now you can get a Haswell i7 full system for only $599US http://slickdeals.net/f/6657778-lenovo-h530-desktop-pc-core-i7-4770-3-4ghz-haswell-8gb-ddr3-1tb-hdd-wifi-n-dvdrw-usb-3-hdmi-win-8-599-90-free-shipping-staples, then just add PSU (600W $90) and GPU (Nvidia 7xx or a AMD Rx) for $149-$499 which you can keep under budget and spend the rest on a LCD.

Unfortunately, this does not seem to be available in my location. Also, thank you for noticing. That is exactly why I posted this, so that I wouldn't let things like that just go by unnoticed. It definitely explains the huge price drop.
