VGA and HDMI won't work!!!

Ok so just about an hour ago I posted a thread about how can I use my laptop that has its screen completely removed. I've tried VGA and Hdmi and they both don't work! How can I use a external monitor. My laptop is a acer aspire e1 531

Should be a function key to enable the external, ie on Dells it's usually fn+F8. Look at your keyboard and see if any of the number keys across the top have a monitor looking icon above the number.
