I've upgrades my HP dv9000 laptop to Windows 8 it seems to run very slow when I just turn on WIFI, CPU pegs 100%. When I open any browser Chrome or Explorer 8 the system becomes non-responsive, I have to reboot. At first I thought it was infected with a virus, but now I think that I have isolated the problem to switching on the WIFI. When I use the LAN connection I don't have a problem.

Anyone aware of drivers that can fix this problem?

What method did you use to upgrade? Via Upgrade Assistant then download? Probably better to clean install from disk/USB Flash and d'load drivers from HP.
Meanwhile you could try uninstalling your Wireless adapter driver in Device Manager
(Windows key plus X/Device Manager/Network Adapters/Broadcom) by Rt click the device and choose 'Uninstall'
Then d'load the Vista driver from HP (If your OS is 64bit then try this one http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp41501-42000/sp41675.exe)
Once downloaded Rt click on the .exe file and choose 'Troubleshoot Compatibility' then 'Troubleshoot Program' and 'Earlier version of Windows' etc.. = Vista SP2
Test the Program (Click flashing shield)
If your OS is 32 bit Drivers here
