I'm going to build my first gaming pc soon, and here is a link to the parts I have chosen so far http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2PO9V

The pc is mainly for gaming and I have a $1000-$1100 budget. Im pretty clueless as to what makes a good motherboard, so I was wondering if the one I have chosen will work? If not, what are your suggestions? I'm also open to suggestions on other parts as well :)

What makes a good motherboard is quality of parts, though what people make it seem like is OC ability. The motherboard you have isn't good for its price, for that price, you can get a top of the line Z87 chipset motherboard.

MSI Z87-G45

If you need me to suggest you some other motherboards, just hit me up.

Isn't that first one the exact mobo you said "isn't good for its price"? This one is a similar price (with discount) and is the Z87 which is apparently better. Should I go with that one or stick with my original one?

The reason for the CPU switch is the 4670k has lower TDP and the cores are a bit better + it's 4th gen and runs on the newest socket 1150 while the 4570k is on 1155 and they may not use that for the next gen.

As for best motherboard I would have to say the MSI Z87-G45 while it costs $130 it does support 3 way SLI and it has audio boost.

I had a hole in logic. I thought the Z87 was the top of the line and you could have gotten a Z87 for the price of that motherboard. Little did I know that 1150 and 1155 were two different sockets, and that the Z77 was actually the top of the line chipset of the 1155 socket. So I apologize for that. You actually did have a good motherboard.

Well, I switched my cpu to the i5-4670k, which has a 1150 socket. So I did switch to the Z87 instead http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-fatal1tyz87killer

Looks nice but you should switch out that RAM for this http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-memory-cmz8gx3m2a1866c9b or this http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-memory-cml8gx3m2a1866c9b
And here are some charts to see the Very little difference but if its the same price and look why not?
