Won't be buying a monitor
-Casual gaming, surfing, movies
-max screen size 19 inches
Well I know the subject doesn't explain what I'm looking for, so here it is-
I'm building a cpu for light gaming like fifa, assassins creed 3,4, arkham origins etc, not very much high end gaming and would be using it for almost 2-2.5 years
Since I'm not sure if I'd upgrade it later so should I go for fx 6300 and a decent gpu under 10000 INR to save some serious bucks,
I'll be pairing an hd 7770with the fx 6300 most probably which is around 9000---
OR---
Invest in an i5 for around 13000 INR, which delays purchasing the gpu for some 4-5 months since I'm on a budget here?
And which i5 out of i5 4430, 4440 or 3350?

More about : 6300 based cpu good light gaming years
well an i5 beats a 6300 by a wide margin. it would be better if you delay your gpu. but a 6300 wont have problems handling high end games. the only problem is bottlenecking your gpu. but since you are in a budget i dont think you would buy a 770 caliber or higher gpu, so bottlenecking isnt a problem

So if I go for an i5 like 4440 or someone in similar price range, would it be able to run fifa or some basic games with low/med settings?
Because investing in i5 and waiting for gpu seems logical for me but nearly every other person speaks of the fx 6300 for budget gaming.
And I will be happy if I'm able to run abovemmentioned games esp fifa for next 2 years with the cpu.

a 6300 can run those games. even for the next 2 years. games really doesnt utilize 6 cores yet. only bf4 and crysis 3 on multiplayer can utilize those cores and the 6300 handles it very well. it really is more a matter of gpu if you want to run games for the next 2-3 years. it is always better to get a mid tier procy and a strong gpu than a strong procy and a mid gpu. i say buy an fx 6300 then wait 4-5 months and get a good gpu. at least an r9 270x

I was really confused over the whole fx vs i5 thing from past 3-4 days.
Btw fx 6300 or 6350 ? Cos both are priced similar and I don't mind paying more for the 6350.
Any good mobo to go with it? And do I really need a corsair 4 gb ddr3 with heatsink or would a Kingston which is priced 1000 INR cheaper do the job too?
As for the gpu, hd 7770 or r9 270x?

i5 is undoubtedbly better. but a 6300 is a decent cpu as well.
r9 270x is better but is about a $210. it is better to wait a few more months and not upgrade for 2-3 years than buy a 7770 now then need to upgrade a year later.
priced similar go for the 6350 if the price is more than $20 just go with a 6300 and spend the $20 for cpu cooler because fx series runs hot.
for ram. battlefield 4 needs 8gb ram to play. so i say for future proofing try to have an 8gb ddr3 ram. for the heatsink. a ram with a heat sink is better but, it doesnt have an effect on ram performance. but would make the lifespan of the ram longer because heat can shorten life spans of pc parts.

Okay, so far I'm zeroing in on the fx 6100, but if you had to suggest an i5, cos i5's are obviously better than fx 6100 anyday, and instead of upgrading to a better fx I'd rather go for an i5.
So just to keep my options open, and considering i5 would have built in graphics aswell, which one of i5 would be good for my budget?

well any of them actually. the worst i5 haswell is 4430 but still that is better than a 6300 but it is around 180-200 dollars and the r9 270x is around $200

if you wanna save money 6300 for max potential 4670k. A 4670k is on par with a 3570k. a 3570 is same with 3570k without overclocking capabalities. so if you dont overlock the 4670k and 3570k you would still get same performance with a 3570. if you wanna overclock go for the K version and buy a good cpu cooler. then the 4440 and others are on the same level. basically those 2 are the best pure gaming cpu's out there.
PS i only say the 4670k for max potential because it is newer and doesnt necessarily mean it is better than 3570

what 6100? we are talking about an fx 6300 and if you are talking about a fx6100 that processor sucks.
to sum it
fx6300 ok cpu for 2-3 years
i5 cpu much better than an fx 6300
if you are willing to wait for 4-5 months for extra budget.
i recommend fx 6300 and the additional budget goes for the gpu minimum of r9 270x for amd and gtx 660 for nvidia
rather than wait 4-5 months then invest the extra budget for an i5 and get a gpu lower than the r9 270x and gtx 660

Best solution
choose one here team amd 7870, r9 270x,7950,7970 r9 280x ,7990, r9 290 ,r9 290x, team nvidia gtx 660,670,760,680,770,780,780ti any of those three will serve you 3-4 years even on a 1920x1080 monitor. amd is arrange weakest to strongest as well as nvidia. the higher you get the more future proof you are.
