Which temp determines fan speeds?

Hello all,

I've got a Gigabyte z87x-ud4h mobo, and am playing around with the Easytune software to adjust fan speeds. Does anyone know what temperature reading it uses to determine the speed of the cpu and system fans?

I assume the CPU temp is used for the CPU fan speed, but what about the system fans? Would they use the system temp, or would they also use the CPU temp?

Yes, they go by the CPU temp. Some MB software lets you setup profiles that use other temps, but I do not know if Gigabyte has such software.

Actually, I'm now not so sure - my system fans are refusing to come on even though the CPU temp has risen above the point where they really ought to.

Is this just a case of Easytune being no good?
