I've been looking at these 2 cards, they are all similar price of £240-£250 and I was wondering which one will be the best for most games. I am also open to other suggestions which I mihgt not have considered. Specs: i5 3470 4GHz, 650w XFX PSU, 8GB RAM.

Both are decent cards. The 280x has 3GB of RAM which could be useful at times but for the most part I prefer the GTX 770 if you plan on going SLI in the near future as it has less issues than crossfire. The OC model of the 280x benches a little better than the 770 but I've read so many good reviews on the 770 that I tend to lean in favor of it. You'll be happy with either, go with the best value (price + games you get + whatever else (free shipping or not etc)) unless you are sure you're going sli then get the 770. If you aren't then again go for value as their bench differences aren't significant enough with regard to gaming to decide on that alone. If you want to do video recording and encoding, plan on getting a gsycn monitor down the line and other things the 770 is also better but if it's strictly gaming go for value. Hope this helps! Have fun!

At the moment there seems to be a definite lack of games for both cards. I think that I will probably get the GTX 770 in the end due to it being easier to find in stock at a reasonable price. Mantle is something which doesn't seem worth it right now as by the time it is implemented in a lot of games it will be time to upgrade my card anyway. Thank you.

If the prices are same in your area then definitely go for the GTX 770 one. But if you are in short of budget then go for the Asus version or other cheap version of r9 280x and save some money for i5 4670k and a z87 motherboard. If you are hardcore gamer this combination will help you lot. Good luck pal.
