First post on here, humbly requesting some help please.

New build components:
Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H Mobo.
i5 4570K CPU (stock cooler for now).
G.skill Rip-jaw 2133 2x4Gb RAM.
Gigabyte Radeon R90 280x GPU
Be Quite Power zone 750w PSU.

I 'Breadboard' assembled the above and powered up.
The system came on and the fans (GPU & CPU cooler) spun for about a second and cut out.
It then began a cycle- reboot cut out, reboot cut out and so on. I tuned off the PSU after 4 cycles.

My first reaction was to take out the GPU, that had no change. I don't know why, but I put the graphics card back and tried again. This time the Graphics card fans did not spin. The cooler fans did, but the same cycle of cutting out remained.

I removed the GPU and the RAM and tried again but with the same result.
I tried with a different PSU but the problem remains. I have even mounted the board in the case, taken of the cooler, cleaned and re-sat the Heat-sink with new thermal paste but still the power on fails and goes into this cycle.

I only have the Stock fan plugged in to the CPU fan socket and the Main ATX 24pin power connector
Am I missing something? Should there be another test I should do?
I don't know if this is the Mobo or the CPU or both.

This is my first build for 6 or 7 years so I'm at a newbie level again.
Can anyone help please?
Thanks

double check ram compatibility with mobo via reading the manual (find pdf online if need be) and try boot up with 1 stick in correct slot for 1 stick boot up according to manual. You never know when you get a bad stick and that's easier to deal with than mobo and cpu; we can only hope! I'm assuming you tried that but maybe you forgot to give this a go admist the frustration. Let us know how it goes! Hope this helps!

Thanks,

Justin S.

Hi Justin, I did test the RAM, Sorry, I forgot to include it. The Problem is It doesn't get to the ram initialisation. I believe the motherboard should power up without any Ram, it would then give an error code to say RAM is missing.

I'm now wondering if the 12v 2x4 power slot is failing. This would allow the board to fire then fail as the PSU has no supply.
Bit of a quandary really. Not sure how to test for that.

Thanks

I have just pulled the 2x4 plugs out and tried to look in the socket (big magnifying glass) to see if there was a visible problem. I couldn't see one. I plugged it back in and thought, why not give it one more go and hey ho! its working. I have pulled re-inserted that socket about 5 times and its failed. Go figure.

Thanks for the quick and helpful attention, Hope I can return the favour one day, or, better still, I hope I don't have too.
:)

Thanks again
