Cannot get subwoofer to play stereo sound

I previously had an OEM motherboard with onboard 5.1 surround sound. I have a simple set of 3.5mm speakers and a 3.5mm subwoofer that worked fine and would play stereo sound through all sources.

I ditched the OEM board and upgraded to a Gigabyte GA-990fx-UD3 which has onboard Realtek HD Audio and I just cannot for the life of me get 2 channel sounds to play through the subwoofer, such as music. The previous motherboard did this just fine.

I've tried the following:
- Configured the speakers as 5.1 in both playback settings AND Realtek HD Audio settings
- Increased subwoofer volume under speaker properties

There is NO option for 'speaker fill' or 'natural bass' anywhere, which I thought might solve the problem. To make things even better... there is only one option under the 'enhancements' tab under device settings which is to disable all sound effects.

Anybody happen to know a solution to this? Maybe a specific driver that still includes these options which I'm assuming were phased out?

For future readers-- I ended up solving the problem.

It was, as I figured, a feature that was removed from more recent Realtek HD Audio driver versions. I ended up rolling back from Realtek 2.73 (which came on motherboard installation DVD) to a previous driver which has loads more features than the more recent drivers. I'm baffled as to why such a decision was made to remove the vast customization options the previous drivers allow.

After downloading an earlier driver, the previously missing option I needed to tick was "bass management" and voila! Subwoofer now works for all audio playback.

I'm unsure of which release removed these features, but I can confirm Realtek Audio Codec 2.60 will solve the problem (as well as if you're looking for the missing "speaker fill" and "room correction" options).

Found it here: http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOUND-CARD/REALTEK/Realtek-HD-Audio-Codec-260-for-Vista-Win7.shtml

Make sure to disable Windows automatic driver installation under Devices and Printers > right-click Computer > Device installation settings > and tick "no, let me choose what to do". Otherwise, Windows will attempt to reinstall the more recent driver before you can rollback.
