I want to buy a good Full HD 24" monitor. I think that I will go with an IPS LED monitor, and am looking at these two, but feel free to suggest any other brand. I am from India.

> LG 24EA53V-Q [ Price : INR 13,300 ]
> DELL U2412 [ Price : INR 18000 ]

My main uses are :
a) Watching movies and other video content
b) Writing / Coding ( Primary use )
c) Internet browsing
I mention (b) because when I am writing, glossy screens can be annoying.

I Intend to use it with my Surface Pro [ Mini DisplayPort ] and sometimes with my laptop [ HDMI ]

I have some questions regarding these two monitors :
1) Is Dell worth the extra money ( it's almost 50% more expensive
2) Is the ultrasharp series not for regular users ( i.e. meant only for editing etc. )
3) Are U2412 and U2412m different monitors?
4) LG has AH-IPS, and the Dell has e-IPS. What's the difference? Is AH-IPS better?
5) Doesn't Dell buy their panels from LG. If yes, what's the point of paying extra. Do they have higher quality control?

Things I hate about the LG model :
- Cheap looking finish
- It can only tilt ( as compared to tilt + swivel + pivot + height adjust in Dell )

Thing I hate about Dell :
- No HDMI, but I understand that I can get connectors without any loss in quality. ( Update : not an issue any more )
- Expensive

I will pay extra for Dell, only if it has a considerably better display for my needs. Feel free to suggest anything else too. I won't be able to test these out in person before buying as I will be ordering online.

And thanks for your time ( in advance ). :)

You are asking a tough question. So many good IPS monitors out there.
1) I love Dell Ultrasharp monitors. The color accuracy is great and so many options as to how to position it. The U2412m is really good:

2) Ultrasharp is just better for photo editing. Dell has a S series which is good all around. The Ultrasharp is better but more $$$
3) same
4) e-IPS is older technology.
5) not sure.

Not sure why you want HDMI. That means you want your monitors to have speakers...but I have yet to hear a monitor sound decent. Forget monitor speakers and buy separate. Even a $15usd speakers will be better.

Suggestions for cheaper monitors but still good: Acer or AOC. Do you have those?

I have decent speakers. I was just confused with different types of ports. I am pretty certain now that HDMI is not an issue for me. Thanks.

We have AOC as well as BenQ, but I am not sure if I should trust these brands. Acer sounds like a more reputable brand, but I can't find any large monitors from them anywhere.

This brand is not available in India. I found a seller that is willing to ship to India but I don't know if the customs office will be ok with this. Most cheap 27" monitors that I looked at don't go beyond 1920x1080.

Thanks for the suggestion though.
