Hello,
I have a recent build about a month old...was working great...M5A97 LE R2.0 MOBO with an FX-8230. It was working great for about 1 month...then when in the software which allows me to overclock and save profiles I set to a saved profile which tuned down my overclock the software froze and eventually just left a black box on the screen....IE was working fine in the back ground just obstructed by the black box. I'm afraid I don't recall the software name...it came with the mother board...I do recall it had a II in it but without the computer working I haven't seen the name of the software in the doc.

OK, so the pc is working but with this black box where the overclocking software when non-responsive....with no other options I killed that task and restarted the PC...it came up but when I tried the overclocking software it again froze after the reboot so ended up having to kill the task and reboot again...after which it will not get past the ASUS "press Del or F2" screen.

I've tried clearing the CMOS and even taking out the battery but still the same...doesn't seem to try to reboot the OS.

Nothing happens when I press the Del or F2 key...my Num Lock is on but the keyboard many not be responsive as cap lock light will not go on. I have a PS/2 keyboard and an USB keyboard. Tried both but can't get past Del or F2 screen.

Any help you could provide would be wonderful.

Did a bench test...almost then was convinced that it was the MOBO. Was under my 30 days for the MOBO so returned it for a new one.

I installed the mother board and found I had the same problem....not getting to or through POST and getting stuck on the "Press Del or F2" key.

Performed another bench test leaving inthe cpu and Graphics card (no onboard graphics so had to leave it in) one stick of RAM and the monitor. I was very happy to see that I could now get into the BIOS. Did not make any changes then started adding one component at a time and booting.

Turns out all the components in the case were good...and probably the MOBO I swapped out also....what I found and I don't know why it would matter is that the USB hub I had plugged in the back caused the failure. I initially forgot to unplug the USB cables for my first bench test so missed the fact that it was causing the problem. I moved my last device (printer) off the USB hub and to the new PC where I have plenty of USB ports now and tossed the hub into my parts bin.

I have no idea why this would cause the problem but if your having the same issue....don't forget to unplug the USB devices when debugging,
