**I put this in "Motherboards" but still unsure whether or not its the most relevant**
So over the last 6 months I have been having problem after problem with my PC. I was looking for a budget buy with decent upgradability that came with Win 7. I went with a Cyberpower system (under $500) on newegg. This was a huge problem as their diagnosticians team hardly do any better than I do BUT on the plus side it was the perfect excuse to crack open my first PC case
After RMAing the GPU & PSU (eventually upgrading it from a no-name 500W to a Corsair750W) I fixed all of the problems but one.
I have RMA'd this particular mobo twice (per cyberpower's recommendation) and I have had the same issue on the original motherboard as well as both replacements.
THE PROBLEM:
Only 2 out of 8 usb 2.0 ports work properly.
There are a total of 8 usb 2.0's on the PC. 6 attached directly to the motherboard and 2 at the front of the case.
The 2 "front" usb's work great. I have a wireless Logitech mouse+keyboard receiver in one slot and an Asus wireless adapter in the other. No problems at all, good connectivity no lagging just perfect.
The 6 "back" usbs suck. I plug in the wireless receiver and I get really bad lagging. The device is always recognized right away and works intermittently so it's getting a signal but horrible inconsistent performance.
I have tried all 6 ports with a wired keyboard, a wired mouse and a different wireless mouse. I get the same issues on every port..When I plug in the wireless adapter and run a speedtest my download speeds are consistently down by 50-80%!
I am on my third motherboard and the issue continues...
I have thought about just getting a self-powered usb hub to replace the 6 faulty ports BUT... Cyberpower has sent me a faulty product. I don't want to be out of pocket and clutter my workspace just to have a workaround.
-I've reinstalled Windows 3 times.
-I made sure my drivers are current (but it shouldn't be a driver issue right?)
-I've gone into the device manager and apparently it says all my devices are working properly BUT
When I look at the USB controllers I see: 2 "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controllers" and 5 "Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controllers". Because my mobo comes with all usb 2.0's shouldn't I have all host controllers listed as "Enhanced" ??
And why are there only 7 Host Controllers when I have 8 ports? Screenshot of device manager linked below.
The only other option cyberpower has given me is to send in the PC to have them look at it. That's two weeks without the PC (this is my main productivity device) and to be honest I would rather figure it out here and request specific RMA's if it is a hardware issue.
So far all my tech questions have been answered by trolling tom's forum but now I have an unsolvable problem!
Any ideas???
