That could be a problem with the Windows driver. If that is so it's possible to reset the touchpad driver by uninstalling and re-installing the device. GO into the device manager right after you start up (move the mouse pointer into the bottom left corner until the start screen tip appears then right-click, a menu should come up which includes a link to the device manager). In the device manager the touchpad driver should appear under "mice and other pointing devices." Expand the menu by clicking on the arrow next to that category then Right-click on the device and select "uninstall". Then reboot the PC (you can ust CTRL-ALT-DELETE on the keybaord and the arrow buttons to do this safely).
If this doesn't work, try doing a Windows...
