I have a music server notebook computer connected to a Mediasonic USB 3.0 hard drive enclosure with 8 bays.

Unfortunately, it is difficult if not impossible to get it to connect at USB 3.0 speeds. Every time I plug it into a blue USB 3.0 port on the notebook, I get a "warning" that I would get higher speeds if I connected to a USB 3.0 port.

I tried using a USB 3.0 hub plugged into a port and then plugged the enclosure to the hub which works to connect at USB 3; however, I get random disconnects then.

I also update the notebook BIOS to the latest version and reinstalled the ASMedia USB 3 drivers.

Notebook: Asus K55A running Windows 7

Enclosure: Mediasonic 8-bay enclosure

I checked the Mediasonic site for drivers and such but came up dry. The forum was also not helpful.

Thanks.

i'd try updating the usb drivers (not the mediasonic drivers), had a similar problem with my front ports, but windows should be telling you all this anyway. you may find that the asus software (if it is anything like the desktop software) might be getting in the way too.

That's what I was referring to above with the ASMedia USB 3 drivers. I have already done that.

I have been able to get another single drive USB 3.0 enclosure to connect at USB 3 speeds using the same ports.
