I'd like to ensure I have the latest BIOS update for my MSI mb (MSI G41M P33) and video card.

I'm running Win 8 Pro 64 bit, if that matters.

Im under the impression that using the MSI software is the way to go...but not sure since I have Win 8 Pro OS.

Thanks for any 'heads up'!

However there are also some people who bricked their boards by those live update utilities of motherboards. I'd suggest to use the safest method. MFlash is an option. But if you want the safest method, just head to MSI forums https://forum-en.msi.com/ and use the MSI HQ-Forum usb flasher. It's an easy to use tool created by some enthusiast users with some help from MSI engineers.

You can just find appropriate files for your chipset and board with a little bit of search on MSI forums and website.

I have used Live Update on every MSI board I've built with, without failure. It has always worked flawlessly for updating the BIOS. Granted, they were all Win7x64 systems, but I see no reason Win8 would be an issue if you install the update app for Win8.

Thanks. I just installed a new MSI video card onto my MSI mb today and it seems win 8 pro found drivers for the video card. All is stable. So, I'm going to take my time and not hurry into updating at this time. Hate to mess with stability!! Going to update to Win 8.1 very soon, first.
