Unplugging Graphics Card While Running

I was curious as to if your graphics card got unplugged while it is running, would it shut down the whole computer. My reason for this is that I recently got a new Power Supply, and while i was rendering things my computer would shut off. I thought that the power supply was defective, but when I was going to take out the cords to return it, I noticed that two pins on the graphics card were only halfway in, and could easily be knocked out.

A possibility indeed, I assume you've already plugged it in correctly and you're now typing from it, another option is that while rendering your CPU/GPU overheated and the system shut ifself down for protection.

Monitor your temps while rendering just to make sure that wasn't the cause.
