Hello everyone. So first off id like to say i am new to this forum and ill give my current system specs. Case: Corsair 650D Mid tower, Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth z77, CPU: Intel i7 3770k, CPU cooler: Corsair H100i, Ram: 8gb Redline 2133mhz, GPU: Nvidia GTX 680, PSU: Corsair AX1200 80 plus gold (overkill i know), Storage 2 256gb SSDs, OS: Windows 7 64 bit.

So here is my question. Its almost tax time and with my refund id like to do some upgrades to my pc. Id like to be able to future proof it if u will for future games and be able to run them on ultra. There some games right now like crysis 3 that i am unable to max out. my max budget for these upgrades is $1,000.00. Possibly thinking of replacing the 680 with 2 780s? I would just like everyone opinion on what they think the best upgrades would be. Thanks everyone and if u need any more info please let me know.

i would sell the PSU and get like a 750w and use the money you have left including the bit you made back from the psu to upgrade the gpu and if u want overclock as the h100i should do just fine

you'd end up with no cash in pocket and a smaller psu.

OP get a second 680 and a 1440p monitor, or a nice 120+Hz one.

I have a similar system. I sold my 680 and bought a 780ti. Big difference. I then SLI'd 2 780 ti's. Huge, huge difference. BF4 is maxed out on ultra at 2560x1600 and I'm getting ~120 FPS.

Buy loads of r9 290x's and go bit coin mining and make your money back put that PSU to use :D or just buy an ASIC and do some pool Mining and see if u make anything as asic USB are pretty cheap

Excuse me for the newbie question but what is bitcoin mining? I have herd of it before but not quite sure what it is or how it works. Maybe i should do some research. And I was looking at the r9 290x cards as another option over the 780s but am not sure what i will gain by going this route.

bitcoin is an online currency. you can mine it (basically find lost money ) it hard to find on your own but you can work together with others (pool mining) also you can go solo but its alot harder also if you want to make anything you will have ti have your computer runnning 24/7 seriously no joke i only recommend if you dont mind having your omputer runnig at 100% all the time. also the return rate is pretty low like 3 dollars a week or somthing if u pool mine i recommend as asic it has a higher mega hash (can mine faster) the btteer mega hash the faster you can get money i guess. also 1 asic is about 3 times more powerful than a r9 290x . heres a photo look at it !! http://vastbitcoins.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/AsicBlockErupterSetup.jpg this is equavalent to about 300 r9 290x's so you have competition
