While playing Minecraft on my Windows 7 Professional PC, the game stops working and Windows just becomes completely unresponisve. I tried pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del to try and open Task Manager and close Minecraft, but the keyboard and mouse becomes completely unresponsive. I have checked the memory, the hardrive and the processor for any issues. There aren't any that could cause this. I have considered building a new computer since this one is a couple years old, but it could still play all my games at a very good graphics settings. I'm just dissapointed that this would happen all of a sudden, since I took many precautions to protect my computer from any problems. I just was wondering if it's time to upgrade to a new computer or to try and salvage this one

Current Computer Specs
- Windows 7 Professional
- Corsair Vengance 16gb Ram
- Intel i5 (I'm not sure what model)
- Asus Sabertooth Z77 Motherboard
- 750w Corsair PSU
- Nvidia GTZ 460 Video Card

If any of you can recommend me parts for a new PC that would be appreciated. My budget is around $2000 and I typically use my PC for Animations, Video Editing and Gaming.

Any comments and suggestions would be great.

You just need a fresh re-install of windows. It is still a descent set up. I would wait half an year, when the new Haswell-E with 8 cores comes in along with DDR4 memory. It will be much better upgrade for 2000$ then to upgrade now. And a better upgrade specially when you do Animations, Video Editing.

Alright thanks for the quick reply. Oh boy, I have to reinstall Windows :(
I'll probably take you're advice on waiting for the improved components. I need to save up some more $ anyways. Could you check my other post on a future PC build and leave a quick recommendation

Thanks for your help
