cant play half life 1 story mode

once i played half life online and the server asked me to save a shortcut of it on my halflife home screen . since then when ever i open half life and click on new game it asks me choose a map to play online what should i do ..... pls help

Try uninstalling/re-installing the game. If you're on Steam, it should have saved your games on their cloud.

i dont have steam installed .....but when i extracted the halflife folder it contained a steam folder in it ...i thought deleting it would work out but nothing happened....and i re installed it ....no change ...pls help ...thanks for replying

You need to have Steam installed to play HL2. It's a Valve game and requires you to have a Steam account.
