I have a AMD Athlon(™) 64 3500+ processor in my desktop pc Winfast motherboard running on Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 with Service Pact 3. Hard drive is ST3250318AS.

I cannot get my Windows XP to delete my hard drive’s partition and I can’t get it to format. It keeps telling me that it can’t delete the partition because the Setup files are in it.

Is it because my processor is 64 bits and my Windows is 32 bits? What should I do to delete the partition and format my hard drive?

Solution
No it has nothing to do with the 64 bit CPU and 32 bit OS.. the installed Windows is probably infected or corrupted.. the answer it gives you doesn't make sense... it should only warn you and offer the options to continue or cancel the format, so it's probably a virus responding. Check the similar case and apply the solution.

Similar case here... follow the same instructions
