The Windows utility will not flash my BIOS. I have an HP Pavilion a6300f. I upgraded the ram and the OS (was Vista, it's now W7.)
I downloaded the utility from HP, but it will not complete the process. Once it said it was wrong (it isn't) but mostly it says: "Flashing program did not complete normally. No action taken."
I rolled back the color scheme, and ended all programs. What could be wrong?

HP Bios flashes can be tricky. Most of the time you should look for all three ways to flash.

Windows:
HP is famous for giving you a bios update that has the utility but the bios is in some weird format or in a different folder.
Make sure everything is extracted to a disk location not a flash drive.
Also download the correct BIOS file for DOS flashing. If you drop this in the folder with the bios updater it should find it and work correctly.
Make sure that you are running the flash as an administrator.
Last Turn off UAC. This pops up windows that can break your flash (not all the times but in somecases.)

Also try re download the file but take it from a different source. I have seen sites that the USA downloads crawl but the China ones scream.
