I have a Dell XPS 9000 that came with a GTS 240 card. The fan is failing - making huge noise and occasionally not spinning at all. I want a replacement video card that can be dropped right in where this one is...don't want to change any other parts of the computer. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions for a good replacement. I'm willing to spend the money, but I'm not skilled enough to try and replace a power supply (don't even know where that is or how I'd replace it or change it). I can get a new card in and out though. Thanks in advance for your help.

Pretty much any video card that doesn't require an additional power will work. so for nvidia pretty much anything X40 or under. Anything that is a GTX will require extra power and won't work. SO like a 640 would be the highest for Nvidia. They don't make a 740 for desktop yet. For AMD not sure on that. I think like R7 250 is the highest there or so. Just make sure it doesn't have an extra power connector and you should be fine.
