Hello everyone I'm new to this forum and looking for some help.

I have a Dell Inspirion M5030 (not the N5030). I know it's more then 5 years old and that some people are going to say it's not worth doing anything to it so just buy a new one. Truth is...yes I would like a new one but it was kind of a gift.

Right now it has the AMD Athlon II P360 Dual-Core running at 2.30GHz and I upgraded the memory from 3GB up to 8GB.

The CPU is a socket S1. I was told I could upgrade to a CPU of the same voltage.

So here's what I would like to know since I can't find ANYTHING about this laptop when it comes to the hardware.
1. What are my options as far as compatible CPUs
2. If any of them will work, well the factory heatsink work or is there aftermarket options that will work.

If this helps, my plans for the laptop aren't anything special...mainly everyday computing and for school (I'm going to school for programming in about 6 months). I know what I'm looking for doesn't require a lot of performance, but I am kind of a performance nut.

Here's were my research has stopped...http://www.cpu-world.com/Sockets/Socket_S1_(S1g4).html

Anything helps and thank you in advance.

Dell's website (under that model) may have the answer, or they may need to contacted directed.
Generally, the bios will support the processors used in that model line, after that it becomes a crap shoot.
