Since I don't want to use WiFi to connect to the Internet with my future gaming rig, should I put a WiFi range extender in my room and connect an ethernet cable from the range extender to the computer?

If so, what range extender do you guys recommend? I have a Netgear DGND3700 N router, and I would like the price to stay under $100.

If not, what are your suggestions? What should I do to be able to enjoy ethernet connectivity without having to use a super long cable?

Thank you.

Yes. An ethernet cable is good to 10x that distance.
??? doesnt quite make sense mate... if you run a cable from a range extender your still gonna be using wifi and you say you dont want to do that...
adding a range extender will increase latency so its not really an ideal solution. running a cable from your phone line to the room you want to use the pc in would be a better idea. likely cheaper 2.

for instance i have cable. the cable comes into the house and immediately hits a splitter. the short 1 goes to the tv box the other to my router which is also in the living room. when i move to the bedroom i disconnect the cable running to the router and connect a longer cable to it, which in turn connects to the router in the bedroom... this adds zero to the latecy as the router and ethernet cable are still within 2 meters of the pc. what im doing is basically adding 30 feet of cable directly to the cable line and nothing between the pc and router.

A range extender in your room (very near the PC) will get exactly the same crappy signal as a WiFi adapter in the PC.

WiFi reception is just as much an art as it is specific products.
Distance, location, interference...all come in to play.
