Hey guys. I currently am running an i7 4770k with a phanteks ph-tc14pe. I also have some arctic mx4 thermal paste applied to it. Its running idle at 25-30 C when overclocked to 4.5 ghz. Is my fan just working well and my thermal paste keeping it cooler than i expected? Just need an opinion from someone if these readings sound correct.

Idle temps don't mean a damn thing, they are way to inconsistent and don't impact anything anyway. Load temps are the only thing that matters.

Tiny variations in workload and fan speed profiles can result in a wide range of idle temps so comparing them is worthless.

I know idle temps are not that important, I've just heard people with the same cpu at the same OC having 40 C idle.

Dont' worry if your cooling your PC better then Mine/His/Her/whomever. If your cooling it better THEN MAKE A YOUTUBE VIDEO OF HOW YOU DID IT and teach all the others posting "Is 104C bad for my new build" posts.

your temps are right where their supposed to be. thats a nice cooler you have. for what its worth my 2500k idles at about 28c(68f ambient temps) with a hyper 212. but sandy bridge runs much cooler than ivy/haswell. my 780 idles at 20c.
