I say yes, But have the guy re-maintenance everything and have him make sure that the wires are no way obstructing any airflow.

He's also throwing in a gaming keyboard if i am correct. I think you got it for a steal.

The gpu is dated and won't run modern games on ultra settings. Just build your own for about the same cost new.

No chance is that worth 500. Maybe 350 on a good day. It will play modern games at medium settings at 1080 at best. It is old.

No, but this will not play better than medium. The CPU is DATED and will struggle in modern titles as games are becoming more and more CPU dependent.

If you can sink about 700-800 into a custom build, you can perhaps run most modern games on high-ultra. But even that can be pushing it. Games like battlefield 4 need at least an R9 280x to run ultra on multiplayer (that gpu by itself is close to the cost of that $500 pc) and even that isn't 60fps.
