I'm looking at building a pc that's mostly dedicated to gaming but it will double as my school computer. I'm hoping to spend less than $800 but still be able to play, say, BF4 on par with consoles -I don't expect ultra- on a 720p monitor/tv. I will be needing the OS which I'm including in the cost at $90 (Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit). I will be building/ordering parts for this pc soon, tomorrow if it works out well. I live in Alaska/99654 - 99623 where shipping is a crime. One last thing; I will be buying the GPU later and my budget for everything else is about 500-600 dollars.

As of right now, my build looks a little like this.

Case- Cooler Master Elite 431 Plus - Mid Tower Case $50

Motherboard- ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ $80

Processor - AMD FX-6300 Vishera (i.e. Black) 3.5GHz $120 + Sims but frigging $20 shipping...

RAM- Kingston Technology HyperX 8 GB (2x4 GB Modules) 1600 MHz DDR3 Dual Channel Kit (PC3 12800) 240-Pin SDRAM $80

HDD- WD Blue 1 TB Desktop Hard Drive: 3.5 Inch, 7200 RPM, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64 MB Cache $60

Drive- Asus 24x DVD-RW Serial-ATA Internal OEM Optical Drive $23

GPU- ??? R9 270X (before price jump) or gtx 660ti were ones I was looking at, but I think that puts me over. Right now I won't be purchasing the GPU. I'll be borrowing a buds for a bit. I can't afford it, but still feel free to give me ideas.

PSU- I'm thinking of either the Corsair CX Series 500 Watt Modular for $60 or the Seasonic M12II 620 BRONZE for $80 Right now I think I prefer the Corsair just for the price and the fact that the amps seem more than adequate..

Most of these things will come with free shipping. I think it'll come to maybe, $40 in shipping. As always I add the $90 for the os. This lands me at right around $600 without a GPU, but that'll come later anyway.

Any suggestions are totally welcomed. Feel free to point out anything really wrong with my build, other build ideas for this budget, or maybe include a pc that runs BF4 for $600. I wouldn't doubt it if other people were more efficient than me lol.

You have a good build I would say if you are thinking of getting the R9 270x you should instead get a gtx 760 as it is better then r9 270x and you can max out bf4 on 1080p...psu wise I would recommend you go for seasonic but corsair is still a good psu..other then that your build looks good

Okay, that's interesting. I actually saw that psu in a review on this site, and they considered it a pretty good psu. I guess if it gets this much flak though, there's probably a reason. Speaking of this site, I actually just saw the Athlon II quad cpu for like 80 bucks; that's a FM2 though..

Sorry, what I meant is that the 620modular is cheaper than the 520modular, but the regular 520 is still the cheapest option. I don't know how much modular really matters to me, it'd be nice to get rid of extra cable for space and airflow. Other than that though, I did some digging and I guess the modular seasonics are generally of better quality than the S models. Well, I'm ordering today. I'm going to go in and transfer funds to be ready. Think it's worth it to get the 620 modular for the longevity? The 520 supplies enough amps for a 660ti or 270x currently, but how long till it wont? It's still within my budget range, so $20 won't hurt too much; but would I loose too much efficiency when it's running at low levels? lol I'm stressing over this the most because it'll pretty much be worse case scenario if something's wrong with the psu.. I may like the smell of napalm in the morning, but not fried electronics. Thanks for the input btw, guys.

I would just say go ahead go for the 620 if that $20 won't hurt you just in case for future things you know...like overclocking your gpu/cpu or for crossfire/sli. Seasonic is the best psu maker so im sure you won't have problem with the whichever psu you choose.
