How do you find out if your hard drive is SATA?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 and the hard drive is failing. I already backed everything onto an external hard drive and I'm looking to replace the internal hard drive. I don't know how to find out any info on the hard drive I currently have to replace it. From my research i'm assuming it's a 5400RPM and something about running 3G/Bs? I went to properties for my C: drive and it says it's a 218GB capacity. Can anybody help me?

3gb/s is sata 2. 6gb/s What do you use your pc for? That will determine which hard drive to get. Does your motherboard have a sata 3 port on it? That cable may be sata 3, but plugged in to a sata 2 port. You will probably only need to replace the hard drive and you may want to spend $6 on a sata 3 cable. Check your motherboard for those ports. Mine has 4 sata 2 ports and 2 sata 3 ports. They are a different color, and they're labeled on the motherboard.
