Internet not loading some pages first time (sorry if this isn't the right place to post this)

Hi my internet connection has been really weird lately, when i click on certain pages it just does the little grey circle thing that google chrome does like its loading but not loading. It will do this for about 20 seconds then say the page cant be loaded, then i click refresh immediately after and it loads the page instantly, sometimes i have to do this 3 or 4 times. Its the same with games too, if i have to register a game or log into a game, sometimes it will time out and say that the server cant be reached, I try again immediately after and it works. Sometimes some page wont load, if i then refresh them they load is cached mode and i have to refresh them about 5 times for them to load normaly. My connection speed isn't slow, i average around 4mb/s when downloading.

Any idea what is wrong?

Application, like when i buy a game off steam sometimes i have to put in a product key, when it checks if the key is valid it takes ages and doesnt work most of the time, it takes about 20 minutes to get it to validate.

Next time a web page does not load immediately for you, open up a command prompt window (start>run>cmd) and type in "ping google.com" or whatever website you are trying to connect to. This will help us further diagnose the problem. A low ping or a high ping can help us eliminate certain options. I would try changing your DNS in the meantime and see if that helps. You should be able to find some simple guides online based on your operating system.

Also, what is your home network situation like? Any routers/switches/other computers sharring your network? And what kind of internet connection do you have. Any major changes in the past few days? Windows updates, hardware upgrades etc?

Thank you, I changed my DNS to the free google one, i started up a game that hasn't been working all day and it worked first try. I will surf around the internet tomorrow and i will tell you if I am still having problems, but all seems fine now.
