Try booting into safe mode. If it's a gaming mouse, find the driver for it, for example roccat kova is what I have so I had to go to the roccat website, download it, install and follow all the little directions and it was good. If it's a regular mouse then maybe your bios needs to be updated. Windows 7 and 8 have drivers for all types of peripherals so that shouldn't be an issue but depending on your motherboard you it may not be usb mouse friendly before a certain bios update. You need to go the website for you mobo, find the correct bios, download, and install. Bios has a few different ways of updating so if you aren't familiar with how to do this try watching a youtube video for your mobo or have a friend your confident in do it for you. Hope this helps!
