Weird behavior with drivers (maybe) after NVidia GForce 331.82

Hello guys.

I am new to this forum so I'm just gonna cut to the chase here. After EA made 331.82 mandatory to play BF4 I noticed weird behavior with my computer. My GPU temperature is higher than it used to be. Before 331.82 it was 35-40 degrees Celsius, but now it is 48-52 degrees Celsius which is way too hot for my computer. I tried updating all the way to the newest beta drivers and the problem still occurs. I don't want to downgrade because then I won't be able to play. When I game, the temps stay normal so far- 75-85 degrees Celsius. BUT! There is always a but. When I open a program, for example an After Effects or CPUID HWMonitor, the temperature goes down to 40 again and stays there, which is VERY weird. As soon as I close, for example, the monitoring program the temperature goes back to 50 and stays there. Guys I am super puzzled here. Any advice?

My laptop:

MSI GT 70-0NE
CPU: Intel i7- 3610QM
RAM: 12GB
GPU: NVIDIA 680M 4GB
OS:64BIT Windows

Thanks for any advice guys!

looks to me like the temperature curves were changed for the graphics chip, when you start a program the cpu heats, forces the fans to higher - cooling also the gpu since they share the cooler. it's a funky behavior but reasonable if they decided the gpu can support higher temperatures

check the msi site for a bios upgrade just in case there's one available, there are programs that will let you manually set the fan speeds and force them to full when you game auto for rest? i think msi has one specifically made for their gt line, search the downloads/support section

Due to this being a gaming laptop, I have no idea who's the manufacturer. Where can I find it out?
Thanks

I will DEFINITELY try that when I get home. Seems reasonable indeed.
UPDATE: I can't find any bios update for this field. Can you link me to any programs that allow me to control the fan speed the way you described? MSI Afterburner doesn't allow me to do it!

All that you need is the ability to control the fan speed. You can check it by right clicking My Computer and click at properties from there go to hardware and click at Device Manager alternately you can right click My Computer and click at Manage as well. From the list click at Display Adapters and check the manufacturer.

Or right click on your desktop and click at Graphics Properties and check manufacturer.

As far as I know there is no way to alter fan speed on laptop.. I might be wrong though.

This is what I feared as well, let's give it a try.

try from power options, advanced \ advanced and switch the fan setting between "active cooling" and "passive cooling"

the msi afterburner should have fan settings too, you sure there's no options under advanced? or search for options related to this in the bios

There is no fan settings in the "Power Options", also in MSI Afterburner the Fan Controller is grey'd out nor there is no option under advanced. I'm stuck here. :(
