I must keep rolling back my broadcom adaptor to get a normal signal. It works otherwise but appears weak, as if a broken antenna. For a year that's what i thought it was. An upgrade to 7 Ultimate made it start working again. I was surprised. But I still sporadically have to roll back the driver and is a nuisance. Very strange. Why and how to fix? I try avoiding broadcom updates, but still have issues. Maybe I accidentally updated broadcom. But why must i use an old version?

Driver updates are not compulsory nor even desirable in certain circumstances.

If a device works better with an out-of-date driver, so be it. Leave it that way.

Get rid of the notion that you have to keep everything up to date, it's a bad policy to have.
You only install a driver update if it claims to fix a specific problem you are experiencing.
