My MoBo (AB9 QuadGT) BIOS sees my two LITE-ON DVD (LH 20 A1H) drives, but my OS (Vista Ultimate) does not.

The DVD drives are connected through the PATA IDE port to the on-board JMicron controller.

Vista is installed on an SPM394-RAID5, via one of the MoBo SATA ports in the IDE mode.

What should I do?

See if the jumpers on dvd drives are placed correctly.

Thank you, mironso. In the meantime, I found a quick solution to the problem at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976, regarding driver error code 19. I used the "FIXIT" file it offers on that page and subsequently I verified the registry entries manually as well. My DVD drives are back in operation now.

However, I will use your advice to address my next issue, which is the possibility of using the AHCI mode on the RAID5 array I have on the SPM394 (now in the IDE mode). I wish I could do it without resetting/reformatting the array. Any suggestions in this regard will be much appreciated.
