My first build consisted of gig mobo ga990 fxa uda 3 with amd 8350. Went to switch factory cpu fan with cors h60 hydro and pulled the cpu out with bent pins straightened them out and put back in without cooler on it to see if it would boot up. Did not came on got extremely hot after a few seconds and shut down. so I'm figuring its toast not sure if I damaged mobo. Now I'm not sure if I want to buy a new amd cpu being that the mobo could be damage to or if I should go ahead and go another direction. This is strictly a gaming computer. Here's my questions. Keep board if it's not damaged buy another amd 9590 or 8350. Another is start over with evga z87 classified or asus max vi extreme pairing with i7-4770k or i7-3770k. I'm down and I am really new at this need help!!!

do you have any other amd cpu to test with? normally the socket/board survives but it's never certain. most likely the cpu is ok too if you manage to straighten out the pins properly without breaking them. try just reseating the cpu and hold the cooler on top of it instead of starting without a cooler if it posts you're out of the woods.

I don't have another cpu. When I straightened them out it went right in but it was so hot It was well over safe cpu temp. I let it cool off and tried again same results. Only ran about 30 secs before shutting down. I just don't want to spend money on anther amd cpu if the mobo is bad also. If I have to spend money on mobo also It doesn't make any sense to not some what up grade to intel i7 and better mobo.

if it starts up and runs 30 seconds, it should work just fine if you attach the cooler on the cpu, even without paste it should start up and you can run a few tests in windows to make sure everything is working okeish, after that you can re attach the cooler properly with paste and no need to change anything. you would notice in a few days if there's any actual damage - stuff will stop working

yes, if the motherboard is broken too it makes more sense to upgrade

can you reset your bios? (there should be a jumper to reset next to the battery)

the fact that it shuts down after 30 seconds without the cooler and doesnt with it attached is good news. means something is working at least (the temperature monitor)

Again no good used jumper to reset cmos to no avail any more ideas it's over my head. I don't have any way to test either cpu or mobo. Thanks for your help let me know if you come up with anything else.
