Hi,

As the title states, I am experiencing what I believe is coil whine from my RM650 that seems to modulate with the HDD read/write usage. I has an OCZ 750 but returned it due to it's fan always running at full-bore (and since they went bankrupt). No discernible whine with that one.

The RM650 is so quiet with it's zero fan speed settings... is it possible that this is common but I didn't hear it before? Can you guys help me troubleshoot?

1X WD Black 1 TB HDD

First of all, one general observation with PSUs that everyone makes. Most of the times the noise being produced by the PSU is linked with coil whining whereas this is actually some electrical components producing the noise.

Are you sure this is due to the HDD? Have you tried to disconnect the HDD and try it again? I'm not looking into SSD because you've mentioned HDD. Generally, RM series is one of the best series from Corsair and they don't do this kind of behavior that is so far in my knowledge.
