Microsoft Isn't The Only One Who Wants To Be Done With XP: A Build Thread

Though this will be the second system I put together, I'm only as familiar with building computers as someone who has followed the instructions to do so. Currently, I'm using a 5 and a half years old rig and rather than upgrading from my 32bit xp I thought I might replace it all at once.

With a budget of $1250 and a friend's help, I've come up with this list, but if any meaningful upgrades or other exchanges should be made for a build that aspires to do a bit of 3d modeling (I already have the tablet), I'd appreciate every suggestion. Oh, and maybe play a few games.

Wow, thanks for the forum friendly list, and wow, that certainly is a different way to allocate the money! This isn't the place to ask about the performance differences of an 8-core AMD system vs a 4-core i7 Intel one, nor how 16gbs of RAM vs 8gbs will play out, or even windows 7 vs windows 8, but I appreciate the answer and I'll seriously consider it.

You dont really need the i7. You should lower down to the i5. basically my build is the best option because then you will still have a nice cpu, a better motherboard, better gpu, and in my opinion better case.
