After Windows 7 boots up, it always freezes to a solid color. The color usually is a light blue and this usually happens either when I login or 5 min after I log in. Sometimes the color will be a very dark gray and rarely it will be orange or yellow. I know it isn't the GPU because it started doing this before I installed my GPU on the motherboard. I have reformatted all of my HDD and my SSD and also reinstalled Windows 7 multiple times. I'm not sure if I need to also reset my settings in BIOS to factory settings. Do I need to clear my CMOS? I really don't know at this point. This problem has been prevalent and consistent for about 5 months. Safe mode boots correctly so it must be a registry problem. At this point Im just shooting suggestions to be helped because it could be many problems but I don't know how to resolve it. The computer freezes once, at most twice after I boot it up. After, it will not freeze.

I'll just supply my specs because why not.

What happens if you boot up in safe mode? (sorry, you already stated)

Also is there integrated graphics on the motherboard? If yes it's possible some fault somewhere has activated it/deactivated it and it is causing the problem?

_EDIT_

Also, just thought of this, completely disable all sound devices and test.

And how could I address this? I mean I don't know how disable or enable my on board. As I can already tell I guess the on board graphics are disabled.

I didn't rollback yet but under my PC I just had no driver for SM Bus Controller and usb driver. That was the only yellow sign.

Thanks for the help guys, I did all you said to do. Im not sure which was the fix, but I rolled my gpu drivers to default, cleared CMOS by taking the battery out, and deactivatedmy on board graphics. Also re wired my intestines of the comp lol. One of these things worked so woo

I had the exact same problem, and my hardware had nothing in common. plus I wasn't using a gpu.

My problem was with the windows backgrounds I was using. I have them stretching across 2 monitors (title) but windows was apparently having trouble rendering images with any resolution other than 3840 x 1080. So I just cut the higher resolution pix in paint.

no more problems
