Hi,

I have a problem with choosing the best GPU for me. Currently I have a GTX760 and I want to change it to a newer model. With my budget I'm thinking about GTX770 or a bit cheaper R9 280X
I use my pc mainly for gaming, I won't be using it for bitcoins. I have always had an nvidia card and i'm pretty used to it. I know that AMD doesn't have problems with their drivers as they used to, but nevertheless I'm kind of afraid of AMD. On the other hand Mantle seems to be a great alternative for Directx, but I don't know how would it affect performance in my case (i5-2500k @4Ghz)

The cards I'm thinking about are:

MSI R9 280X Gaming 3Gb / Asus R9 280X DirectCu II TOP 3Gb
MSI GTX770 Twin Frozr II 2Gb / Asus GTX770 DirectCu II 2Gb

As for the AMD i would probably go for Asus. MSI is the cheapest of all those cards, but Its temperatures are way higher than in Asus. I also read that Msi throttles at 80C.

The price difference between Asus R9 280X and MSI GTX770 however is really small. It's bigger if I consider Asus GTX770, but both of those cards seem to be ok in terms of temperature and noise level.

So... What would you choose? :)

My rig:
i5-2500k @4ghz
P67 Pro3
8Gb Ram 1600mhz
PSU: 650W

Well I've narrowed down my choice to either Asus R9 280X or MSI GTX770 Twin Frozr OC. I've seen like a milion benchmarks and those two gpus are neck to neck.

Something tells me that Mantle and a higher bandwitch in R9 may be the better choice. But I'm just so used to nvidia. Damn...
