Should I get I5 4440 or FX 8320 if I'm gonna OC it to 4.5Ghz ?
Main use : Gaming
GPU : Dual R9 270

FX 8320(@4.5GHZ) Faster in multitreaded apps and the i5 4440 is faster in single treaded apps. about the same performance in gaming.could you specify the games you play?

Any i5 is a better gaming cpu than any amd chip available, even if it is overclocked. The haswell will eat the amd cpu for 11'ses.

Dont listen to a bunch of kids telling you that an amd chip is equivalent in games, the truth is they can keep up in about one game.

Notice there is nothing from amd in the top tier ,but even the slowest clocked i5 2300 from 3 years ago is in the top tier. A haswell 4440 is 20% more powerful than a 2300 so there is no way the AMD stuff can compete.

The instructions per cycle is poor on an amd cpu, and they are already running fast. There isnt a lot of percentage left in the cpu's. But once you start down that road you are committed to aftermarket coolers and high end motherboards. You save ah heck all, and still dont get the same gaming ability.

I recently got an h87m-plus and an i5 4430, but I got the i5 off ebay for £99. I have no interest in xfire. One good card will do me, I am 45 years old !
