My first build consisted of gig mobo ga990 fxa uda 3 with amd 8350. Went to switch factory cpu fan with cors h60 hydro and pulled the cpu out with bent pins straightened them out and put back in without cooler on it to see if it would boot up. Did not came on got extremely hot after a few seconds and shut down. so I'm figuring its toast not sure if I damaged mobo. Now I'm not sure if I want to buy a new amd cpu being that the mobo could be damage to or if I should go ahead and go another direction. This is strictly a gaming computer. Here's my questions. Keep board if it's not damaged buy another amd 9590 or 8350. Another is start over with evga z87 classified or asus max vi extreme pairing with i7-4770k or i7-3770k. I'm down and I am really new at this need help!!!

If the system is strictly for gaming the i7 processors are overkill. You could get an i5 and save some money, and it will perform faster in gaming than the AMD processors currently out there. But whatever you buy, don't try to run a PC without some kind of cooling on the processor! They generate way too much heat these days and will not run for long at all, as you've experienced, without a cooler attached to them. In my experience in this situation, usually the motherboard is ok, but you can take the opportunity to buy a core i5 based system and get a nice performance increase is games.

Budget is not really a problem within reason. Which i5 would you suggest for overclocking? Which mobo would you suggest of the two mentioned. I just don't want to spend money on a new amd cpu if the mobo is bad also. I would have spent about the same amount of money to get the same performance.
