I recently upgraded to win 8.1 and when i open my games i get the
0xc0000007b error. The fact is that all the games worked perfectly on win 7.I have tried everything which had suggested in previous forums about the same topic. My windows 8.1 is updated frequently,my drivers are upto date, tried replacing dll files, reinstalled c++redistributable,
net framework, visual studio etc. The awkward part is I installed windows 7 again to play the games but now win 7 too is showing the same error "application was unable to start correctly(0xc000007b).click ok to close the application".
MY config is
amd phenom II x2 560
4 gb ddr3 ram
amd hd 7870 gpu
os win 8.1 x64 and
win 7 ultimate x64.
please help me.

Solution
This is why most people don't upgrade between Windows versions, but do a clean install instead.

This is a generic error, it could be anything from the Master Boot Record being corrupt, the user account being corrupt, or various problems with the Registry. Really hard to pin this one down.

Best solution here might just be a clean install; if the OS can't properly ID an .exe file after an upgrade, who knows what else is broken?
