I've been having an issue where my laptop freezes and I figured out that it only does that when there's a disk in the drive. It does not have to be reading it to freeze. If I take the disk out, the laptop works fine. I have a Dell XPS 15r with an i7 2nd gen processor. Windows 7 64bit. I thought it was a game that was causing the issue but I've reinstalled windows thinking that it was an OS problem because I did a system restore prior to the game installation. But alas, I know what causes it now but I don't know if it's hardware or software at this point.

I just did that and seem to have made it worse...

I also uninstalled the driver's for the for the DVD drive and rebooted the system. It's currently looking and installing new driver's for it. Hopefully that will work.

Is it also possible that it's the battery causing the issue?
