What do you think a safe voltage would be to get all the way up to 5ghz? I will be getting the Corsair H100i water cooling soon, so that should be fine. The maximum recommended I've seen is 1.55v. But do I need that much? Thanks!
I do not think you should overclock that high, especially with a base clock of 3.5 GHz, no matter what cooler you have. 4.5 at most, not more.
People have done up to 6 or 7ghz. Not sure how, and I wouldn't ever go that high, but it is possible. You would just need the correct settings, and I'm asking what those are. But what would you recommend for 4.5ghz?
First of all, the 6-7 GHz range is insane and has only been done with liquid nitrogen cooling. The record is like 8.5 GHz. If you get your CPU multiplier in BIOS, it should do it automatically. I would recommend 1.4 V or so, maybe less.
Alright, I'll give that a shot, Thanks! And unfortunately my motherboard doesn't change the voltage automatically, and I don't think I will get Biostar anymore lol. Stable board, but not many overclocking options.
