Maybe I'm just an idiot, but I don't seem to be able to get this done properly. I'm having to reinstall windows for a (possibly) unrelated matter, so give instructions from the point of view of a new build please. I have another computer to download things from. I would like a specific link and exact instructions with what to do from there. I have a GA-970A-D3 rev. 1.3 Gigabyte motherboard, and a GeForce GTX 660 graphics card. What I've done in the past is download the link from gigabyte/amd and launch a program called Setup or something like that, which launches amd install catalyst. That comes up with a list of things to be installed. Mostly c++ redistributables and a few things like USB drivers and ccc (I don't have an amd graphics card so should I install this?). I don't see anything call chipset driver or even sb driver. Thanks for the help!

When I ran the cd exe, it came up with a list of drivers. Easy energy saver, splash to connect, via hd audio driver, Realtek LAN driver, etron usb driver and on/off charge. Is there an actual chipset driver or are all of these chipset drivers?

Ok I have downloaded the file, but the part I'm most uncertain of is what to do now. Inside the folder, there are a lot of different files and subfolders. In the past I have used the "Setup.exe" which is catalyst install manager. and gone through with a custom install, so I can see what's being installed. There are AMD Catalyst Install Manager, Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 (x86), 2010 (x64), 2012 (x86), 2012 (x64), AMD USB Filter Driver, AMD Catalyst Control Center. So is this right? None of these appear to be "chipset" drivers.

Yeah it never mentions that it's actually installing the chipset driver, but once it's done you'll notice, when you open CCC, it'll have the chipset stuff in it like CPU power control and whatnot. But it never comes out and says "Installing chipset driver" or anything of that nature. It should, but it doesn't
