Disk Backup - Sata3 Transfer Speeds?

I'm currently backing up a full drive of mine (sata3) to another full drive of mine (sata3). Total size of the files to be backed up is around 2TB. Trasfer rate is only around 47mb/s - which seemed very slow to me.

What do you think?

Are you transferring through a USB enclosure/adapter or are both drives hooked up to SATA ports on the motherboard?

It sounds like you are transferring alot of smaller files instead of 1 large file. The max transfer speeds you see advertised only applies to a large sequential file.

Yes, it's mostly files that are ~10MB in size (uncompressed images)
