Also my computer wont start, it shuts down within 10 seconds of loading windows, are these symptoms of faulty cpus? I've been looking all over the internet for my problem but couldn't find anything so i thought i'd post here. Motherboard model is msi z87 g45 gaming.

I've already swapped out my power supply and ram, and run mem diag, I've tried starting up with only cpu and ssd hooked up. I've reinstalled windows 8.1 a few times from disk, which it does fine. I can spend all day in bios, it's just when i load up windows that it shuts down, usually it'll flash shutting down on the screen for a second or so. Just having no luck here.

If temp stay at 50ºC in BIOS then isn't likely to be an overheating issue, though you should still clean the cpu Heatsink/fan and maybe also reapply thermal paste.

Have you run memtest86+ or just BIOS/ windows mem diag? BIOS / windows mem test do a very simple test and it won't pick up many issues.

Try booting your system with some DVD live OS, like Ubuntu and see if it gets to load succesfully and to run stable once in the OS, if so it could be a corrupted installation of windows due to a bad installer or some problem in your HDD.

okay thanks for the suggestions guys. I've already checked the heatsink, reapplied thermal paste (arctic silver), and i'm not nor have ever overclocked. I haven't run memtest 86+, i ran the windows mem test, but i also swapped the ram with ram from a friend's pc and it didn't help anything. I've reformatted my ssd a few times now (i know i'm not supposed to and i'm sorry i did), i have no experience with a dvd live os but that sounds really cool, i'll look into it. Some additional info: I just built my first computer, it ran fine for a week, then suddenly started shutting down and dying on me whenever i try to start it up. It died the first time while i was playing a game, if that's worth anything?

My original ps is: XFX XXX Edition 650 Watt Power Supply P1650XCAG9

My replacement ps is: Corsair Professional Series 760 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Platinum Power Supply AX760. My internet's all over the place tonight, I looked at ubuntu and i'll definitely give that a try tomorrow.
