Hello,
I just got a new graphics card from Fry's that was on sale, and I wanted to know how far other people have overclocked there card too if they have or have had this card. I'm a first time overclocker and I don't wanna hurt it.
Heres the stock settings.

Here's the card on Newegg.

I'm guessing based on the default clock that you have a Radeon HD 7850.

My XFX 7850 GPU is stable at 1050 MHz core clock, 1250 MHz memory clock on a off-brand 585 watt PSU, and it pulls about 150 watts in that configuration. Your mileage may vary (maybe a lot), but you should get somewhere in the same ballpark.

If your driver crashes, or you get BSODs, freezes, or artifacts, its time to clock back down :)

If you keep it under 90 degrees and don't increase the voltage (yours looks like its voltage is locked anyway) you can't really hurt the GPU. You might hurt you power supply though, overclocking can use a LOT of juice.

Typically core, memory clocks and fan speeds are unlocked in the factory VGA BIOS. Sometimes the voltage and powertune are also unlocked (unlocked simple meaning adjustable); however this varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and sometimes from card to card. Sometimes Afterburner can access the voltage controls through the general settings tab.

In any case, as long as you do NOT increase the voltage, and you keep the temps under 90 (preferably under 80), you can't really hurt anything.
